Agar-gel precipitin-inhibition technique for histoplasmosis antibody determinations.
The agar-gel precipitin-inhibition technique has been modified to detect antibodies of Histoplasma capsulatum in sera from human clinical cases and experimental animals infected with this organism. By use of this modified technique, the histoplasmosis can be detected more consistently and reliably than with the direct agar-gel diffusion test, and titers are comparable to those attained by the c...
متن کاملAgar-gel precipitin-inhibition technique for plague antibody determinations.
An application of the agar-gel precipitin-inhibition technique we described previously can be used to detect plague antibodies in human and animal sera after a series of plague vaccine inoculations or after exposure to Pasteurella pestis. Determination of the minimal reacting concentrations of the plague antigen and antibody reagents, methods for combining reagents, and length of incubation per...
متن کاملSoluble antigens for immunofluorescence detection of Histoplasma capsulatum antibodies.
Soluble antigens from Histoplasma capsulatum in the mycelial and yeast phase were purified by gel filtration, fixed onto paper discs, and employed in an indirect immunofluorescence procedure to detect antibody in sera from individuals infected with H. capsulatum. The elution patterns of crude histoplasmin passed through Sephadex G-200 revealed two minor peaks of protein showing immunofluorescen...
متن کاملNew Approaches for the Laboratory Recognition of M Types of Group a Streptococci
The successful classification of Group A streptococci by the capillary precipitin technique requires a complete series of M type antisera which are sufficiently potent and specific to give unequivocal type-specific reactions with all the serotypes. Specific antisera for this purpose have been prepared by absorption with heterologous streptococci. Unabsorbed antisera have been employed here in t...
متن کاملApplication of the immunofluorescent technique in testing the purity of Sendai virus.
Various attempts have been made in this laboratory to eliminate the host components surrounding Sendai virus particles. Procedures such as fluorocarbon treatment, sonication and methanol precipitation resulted in the loss of infectious titer of the test materials. However adsorption on and elution from chicken red cells or aluminum phosphate gel did not cause loss of infectious titer.1,2,3) Bec...
